The Haven

It is the desire of Dan and Sherry to provide a place of rest – a “Haven” as they call it – for those in ministry.

In 1992, the Johnsons renovated a portion of their 4-car garage to create a small apartment with a bedroom, bath and kitchenette.  When Dan and Sherry began casting their vision for a place that ministers and their families could retreat to, they knew that they already had the perfect location, but the apartment needed to expand. In 2015, another renovation took place in order to include a private living room area, and the “Haven” was born.

The living room includes a private entry way, comfortable seating and an electric fireplace. The bedroom sleeps up to four with a double bed and day-bed with trundle. The private bathroom is fully stocked with linens. The kitchenette includes a small fridge, microwave, coffee maker, dishes and table and chairs. Off the kitchenette is a door that allows access to the Johnsons’ main house but can be shut for privacy.

Since the beginning of my business/ministry with StarDogs Astronomy, and running the roads of the Midwest, including Northern Michigan, Dan & Sherry Johnson have been great supporters of my efforts. Their home has always been open to me as I travel, and now, with the launch of their ministry and the Haven, I have a place to get the rest I need, and also call my personal “motel” that comes with great company. Sherry is a wonderful host, Dan supplies great conversation and I can always be assured that I will be prayed over by the Johnsons, as well as blessed by their hospitality.” ~Rod “The Stardog” Bisher (Lansing, MI)

This small “Haven” is not luxurious, but it is warm, safe and comfortable.  It is a place in which to rest and be refreshed.  It’s a place where someone will listen to you, pray with you and encourage you in your ministry – people who can do so because they have “been there” themselves.
